Subjects at a Glance
EDM: We are in the middle of Unit 7. Below are the topics on the unit test. Also, we will be reviewing skills with worksheets for homework as we prepare for End of the year assessments and NWEA test.Language Arts
Reading: We are currently studying myths and legends in various cultures. We have reviewed how Traditional Literature is defined. Students are expected to read at least 2 Traditional literature stores by the end of May. We will also review protagonist and antagonist with a plot outline in fantasy and adventure fiction text.
Writing/ Science: While we are studying the human body in science, we will conduct research on 1 body system and create a google slide presentation. There will be a minimum of 8 slides.
- Write the function and purpose with all organs
- Explain its interdependence with another system
- Describe diseases or illnesses that may affect children
- Share preventive help information to keep system healthy
Human Body Systems:
- How a few of the main systems work.
- Explain the interdependence of 2 systems at all times
EDM Unit 7: Multiplication of Mixed Numbers, Geometry and Graphs Outcomes
- Multiply mixed numbers by fractions, whole numbers and mixed numbers
- Find the areas of rectangles with fractional side lengths.
- Use common denominators to divide fractions or divide fractions traditionally. (KFC)
- Use categories and subcategories to think about properties of shapes.
- Classify figures in a hierarchy sort.
- Use rules to continue patterns and write rules for relationships in in/out tables.
- Write ordered pairs from a table and graph points.
EDM Unit 8: Applications of Measurement, Computation and Graphing
- Use unit conversions to solve problems.
- Find areas of rectangles with mixed-number side lengths to solve real world problems.
- Find volumes to solve real world problems.
- Multiple and divide whole numbers and decimals to solve real- world problems.
- Create graphs.
- Use graphs to answer questions.
Reproductive Health Unit
According to district and state guidelines, the Reproductive Health Unit has changed. It can be taught in one day with basic simplistic terms, black line masters, and definitions without any videos. Students will be encouraged to refer to parents for more information.End of the year preparations
A letter will be sent home explaining the following: Each family will be asked to donate $20 to cover end of the year festivities. This money will cover Rolling Hills Park entrance fee and picnic/ ice cream sundae bar. The monies will also cover any decorations needed for the Promotion Celebration.
We also have families donate cookies and cupcakes for the Promotion Ceremony and Family Party. A few of our 4th grade families have gracious volunteered to assist with the set up and clean up.
