Þ    I can use a think mark to show character’s traits. Some can provide evidence.

Þ    I am beginning to use text clues to find the meaning of new words.

Þ    I can use word animals strategies to solve unknown words.

Þ    I can explain Fantasy genre.

Þ    I can find edit a setting lead/ beginning.

Þ    I am beginning to understand how to collect and observe weather data

Þ    I am beginning to solve simple word stories with C.U.B.E.S.

Þ    I can insert dialogue in one part of my personal narrative.

Þ    I can extend basic addition and subtraction facts.

Students have reviewed September goals for reading from reading list.

Week 4 Update Sept. 23- 27

September 23-27, 2019 Week 4

This week in Room 106 with the Pod Thinkers… (I selected a few I can statements.)

     I can read in my seat for a minimum of 30 minutes or more. (Our stamina is increasing.)
I can use a think mark to record my reading thoughts. 
I can find (edit) the mistakes in a question.
I can make meaningful predictions.
I can define mass in my own words.
I can write a rewrite a beginning with a descriptive setting and main character.
I can use a picture to write a multiplication story.
I am beginning to understand the relationship between multiplication and division.
I can use data to create a scaled graph.
 I can complete a week of Words their way with a sort.
I can tell the parts of a fiction story, using beginning, middle and ending

Students benchmarked:  24 out of 24. Guided reading has begun

All completed the NWEA, Map Math test on Thursday, 9/27.

Almost all completed the NWEA MAP Reading Test.

Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019: Monday, Sept. 30, Unit 1 Practice Test in class

Wednesday, October 2, 2019: Unit 1 Math test, Math Tools, Time and Multiplication

Week 3 September 16-20, 2019

September 16-20, 2019 Week 3

This week in Room 106 with the Pod Thinkers… (I selected a few I can statements.)

• Þ   I can read in my seat for a minimum of 25 minutes or more. (Our stamina is increasing.)
• Þ   I can record the books I am reading.
• Þ   I can find (edit) the mistakes in a sentence.
• Þ   I can write a quick-write about a time I lied or when I was hurt. (Sometimes, students write about observing someone else’s experiences.)
• Þ   I can explain how equal groups represent multiplication and division.
• Þ   I am beginning to understand the relationship between multiplication and division.

   Reading logs began this week at home.
   Link 1.1 and 1.5 went home today and are due next Friday morning. 

Students benchmarked:  21 out of 24.

Most completed the NWEA, Map Math test on Thursday, 9/19.

Some completed the NWEA MAP Reading Test on Tuesday, 9/17/19.

Make ups are scheduled to occur Friday, 9/20 and Monday, 9/24.

I can think Win-Win as oppose to lose-lose or lose- win.

I can synergize with my classmates. (We practiced lining up by birth month without talking.)

I can write a quick-write about best or worst birthday.

I can tell time to the nearest minute.

I can show elapsed time (time passed) using an open number sentence or a successful strategy.

I can round to the nearest ten.

Students benchmarked:  12 out of 24.

Final Three habits of Leader in Me were reviewed.

September 3-6, 2019

I can read in my seat for a minimum of 15-20 minutes.

I can define a sentence and state what it looks like.

I can come to morning meeting, greet my classmates, and participate (share) in the activity.

I can use a number grid to add and subtract as well as complete patterns.

I can participate and evaluate how my day went in closing circle.

I can be proactive on jobs needed in my classroom. (Students created half of the jobs.)

I can assess my spelling patterns using a primary test.

I can assess my Beginning of the year math knowledge.

Students benchmarked: 5 out of 24.
